| Islam, Shari 'ah, and the Modern Encounter | How does Shari\'ah engage the world in general, based on its own constitution and the exegetical commentary on that constitution (Quran and Sunnah)? Shaykh Adhami defines Shari\'ah as timeless, an affirmation of multiplicity, and as a mediating instrument through the tumult of life. He expounds upon the Muslim responsibility to first enrich ourselves with what people and cultures around us have to offer so that we may contribute to life. He further highlights insecurity and a lack of competency as afflictions that debilitate Muslims today.
